Krokeai Society of US and Canada

Krokeai Society was founded in Youngstown Ohio in 1951 by immigrants who came from Krokees, Levetsova and/or Krokeai of Laconia Greece. Our society was originally formed with the sole purpose of building a water supply network for our hometown. This goal was achieved in the mid 1950's. We have also started many other projects for the common good of the people of Krokees. We continue to financially, and other ways, support several organizations in Krokees as well as projects of the municipality of Krokees.
The purposes for which our society was formed are:
    a) To unite its members in preserving the traditions and principles of Hellenic (Greek) culture  and the culture of Krokees.
    b) To instill in its members a high sense of loyalty for their common birthplace and to each  other.
    c) To promote the exchange of ideas and provide for the mutual assistance, enjoyment, entertainment and improvement of its members socially and physically.
    d) To hold meetings and other gatherings for the better realization of its purposes and for scientific, educational and charitable purposes.
Our annual Educational Awards (Scholarships) given to students /members of our society attending American and Canadian Colleges and Universities, amounts to $2,500.00 annually.
The largest portion of this amount comes by the generosity of Krokeans from the United States and Canada.
Our society holds a three day Annual Convention in different American and Canadian cities as well as in Krokees. The annual convention gives our families and our youth the opportunity to meet and get to know each other better, and to work together for the betterment of our society and the perpetuation of the Hellenic Krokean spirit.
